The short answer

Anthropic publishes free, open-source plugins that make Claude better at a particular job. Two suit a recruitment agency: the HR plugin, which helps track a recruiting pipeline and prepare structured interviews, and the sales plugin, which helps research prospects, prepare for calls and review your pipeline. The plugins themselves are free, but using them in Claude needs a paid plan. Add them from Claude’s Customize menu, edit them to match how you work, and give them only the access they need.

Why it is worth fixing

A general AI assistant has to be told how your agency works every time. A plugin bundles that know-how once: skills, which are written instructions Claude draws on when they are relevant; commands, which you run by name; and connectors, which link Claude to tools such as a CRM or your email. Every part is a plain text file, so you can rewrite it in your own terms.

Anthropic first released them early this year and has added more since, including plugins from partners and other developers. That is useful, but it means not every plugin in the list is Anthropic’s own.

Step by step

  1. Check your plan

Anthropic’s help centre says plugins are available on paid Claude plans, not the free one. They work in chat on the web, in the Claude desktop app and in Cowork, Anthropic’s tool for longer, multi-step tasks, and a plugin you add is saved to your account. Any tool you connect, such as your CRM or email, needs its own account.

  2. Add one plugin at a time

In Claude, open Customize in the left sidebar, then the Plugins tab, and browse what is available. Choose the plugin you want and select Add. Start with one, use it on real work for a week, then add the next, so you know which one is helping.

  3. Use the HR plugin for interviews and onboarding

Its README lists a recruiting-pipeline skill that tracks candidates from sourcing to offer, and an interview-prep skill that builds structured interview plans with competency-based questions, scorecards and debrief templates. Commands draft offer letters and onboarding checklists. Anthropic describes it as a people operations plugin for HR teams, so the interview kits and onboarding checklists are the parts an agency is most likely to use: use them to help a client run a fair, consistent interview, or to get a placed worker ready for day one.

  4. Use the sales plugin for business development

The sales plugin researches a company before you call, prepares a brief for the meeting, turns call notes into a follow-up draft, and reviews your pipeline. It names CRMs such as HubSpot, Close and Salesforce; if yours is not connected, it can work from a file you upload, such as a pipeline export. For call summaries, its README says nothing is written to the CRM or sent until you say so.

  5. Edit them to match your process

Both plugins are plain text, so you can change them. Add your agency’s terms, your interview stages and your house style, and remove what does not apply. In Cowork, the Customize button on an installed plugin starts a task in which Claude helps you adjust its skills and connectors. The HR plugin’s example settings assume an American company, so put in your own details.

  6. Give it the least access it needs

Connect only the tools a task needs. The sales plugin’s README says each connector can allow, ask or block each of its tools, and for anything that runs on a schedule it suggests setting tools that send, post or write to ask, so a person approves them first. Before adding a plugin from another developer, check who made it and read its files.

Checklist

  • You are on a paid Claude plan, and connected tools have their own accounts
  • You started with one plugin and know what you want it to do
  • The skills use your agency’s terms, stages and house style
  • Only the connectors a task needs are switched on
  • Anything that sends, posts or writes asks a person first
  • You know who made every plugin you have added

When it is worth getting help

Adding a plugin and editing its text is well within reach of a team that already uses Claude. It is worth getting help when you want a plugin to work with a recruitment CRM it does not list, when several people will rely on it and it needs testing first, or when it should act on a schedule with a person checking only the exceptions.

Rec Int. builds automation for UK recruitment agencies, around the systems they already run.

Questions people ask

Are the plugins free?

The plugins are open source and free to download from Anthropic’s GitHub. Using them in Claude needs a paid plan, and any tool you connect, such as a CRM, needs its own account.

Do the plugins replace our recruitment software?

No. They help Claude work alongside the tools you already have. The HR plugin’s README says every command and skill works on what you type or upload, and does more when it can read from connected systems.
